Rules of the game. I learned the rules of this game for the first time from the movie “The Adventures of Prince Florizel,” which was filmed on the basis of RL’s short stories. Stevenson’s “Suicide Club”. Its essence is as follows: people who wanted to commit suicide and didn’t know how to do it or were afraid to do it, entered the £ 40 suicide club and played a card game at night. All members of this club sat at the round table. The dealer was not a member of the club, he just shuffled the cards and put them in a pile in the closed form in the center of the table, then each of the club members took one card from the top of the stack and opened it. If this card turned out to be a lady, then a member of the club was removed from today’s murder, if not, then each member continued to draw one card each. If any of the players pulled the lady out, the dealer took the cards and shuffled them again, after which the card was pulled. The member who pulls the ace becomes the target for the kill tonight.
Over time, this game was modified and began to play for money. Before starting the shuffling of cards, each player made a bet. Then the dealer shuffled the cards and each player, starting with the player to the left of the dealer, took one card each. The player who pulled the lady out of the game, and the one who pulled the ace, took the entire bank itself.
