Game rules. The card game was played in Illinois, in the United States, in the 1930s and 1940s. 3 players take part in the game, using a deck of 52 cards. The first deliverer is determined by lot. The deck is carefully shuffled and each player is dealt 13 cards one at a time and 13 cards are dealt to a non – existent player-a free hand called “pickup”, the cards in the pickup lie closed in the stack. Players play 4 games and each 12 deals.
- First game-in the first game, players remove all cards of the trump suit, then play. Trump appoints deliverer.
- The second game – in the second game, the deliverer after viewing his cards calls the trump suit, then play the game.
- Third game – there is no trump suit in the third game.
- Fourth game – the fourth game is played without trumps, and the goal of the game is to avoid bribes (this is called “nullo (nullo)”.
In the first three games, the deliverer has a quota of six bribes, the player to the left of the deliverer, has a quota of four bribes, the player to the right of the deliverer has a quota of three bribes. If a player takes more than his quota, then that player is credited with one additional point for each bribe taken over the quota. If the player takes less than his quota, then the player is credited with one negative extra point for each unfinished bribe below the quota.
In the fourth game, the deliverer has a quota of three bribes, the player to the left of the deliverer has a quota of four bribes, and the player to the right of the deliverer has a quota of six bribes. If a player takes more than his quota, he is credited one negative point for each extra bribe. If a player takes less bribes than his quota, then the player is credited one positive point for each bribe below the quota.
For each game, after the players have looked at their cards, the deliverer determines how many cards he wants from the pickup (it can be from 0 to 13 cards), the deliverer first throws the number of named cards out of his hands to the side, and then takes this number of cards from the top of the pickup. If there are cards in the pickup, the player to the left of the deliverer can discard as many cards as he wishes and take this amount from the pickup. If after that there were cards in the pickup, the player to the right of the deliverer can discard the corresponding number of cards and take this number in the pickup.
The first move in the game belongs to the deliverer. The deliverer can go with any of his cards, each next player clockwise must put a card of the same suit, if the player does not have a card of such a suit, then he must put his any card. Laid out cards (bribe) is taken by the player who puts the highest card in the suit of the first move, if a trump was laid out, then the player who laid out the trump takes the cards, if several trumps were laid out, then the player who put the most senior trump takes the cards. The player who took the laid out cards (bribe), makes the first move in the drawing of the next bribe. Thus, all games are played and the player who scores the most points, at the end of four games, becomes the winner.
